Leicester City impregnable striker Jamie Richard Vardy became the only player in the history of the English Premier League to score 11 goals in eleven consecutive matches on Saturday when ghosted past Manchester United’s defence to beat David De Gea.
The English International had broken former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nestelrooy’s twelve year record (having scored in 10 consecutive Premier League games in 2003) a week earlier opening a 3-0 win over Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park.
Vardy’s moment of glory finally came in the 24th minute when the twenty-eight-year-old striker sprint from eighty meters across the field to connect from Christian Fuch’s pass to knock one past helpless united goalie, David De Gea.
Manchester United fought back strongly and pulled parity in the 46th minute through Bastian Schweinsteiger’s header.
The visitors took charge of the game in the second but failed to open up Leicester’s defence and nearly paid the price when David De Gea had to come to the rescue of Manchester United with a timely save to deny Leonardo Ulloa
Jamie Vardy leads the Premier League goal king chart with 14 goals and he’s yet to play a match without registering a goal.
