League Report Broke silence: Bad politics at Kotoko caused my exit - Opoku Nti
OCT 7, 2015 LISTEN

Outgoing General Manager of Asante Kotoko, Opoku Nti has revealed that bad politics at Kotoko necessitated his exit from the Kumasi based club.

Last Saturday, Allsports.com.gh reported that the Ex Bayern Munich and Ghana international has been appointed the Executive chairman of the club to replace Paul Adu-Gyamfi and Opoku Nti's as board chairman and management committee chairman, respectively.

Asante Kotoko last season failed to defend their league title as they were dethroned by Ashgold and also lost the FA Cup to Medeama, thus putting the outgoing executives of the club under severe pressure when Kotoko were docked six points for fielding an unqualified player[Obed Owusu] in a league game against Hearts, which they have appealed against the decision.

Opoku Nti who last week was elected onto the Executive committee of the Ghana Football Association on the ticket of Kotoko has broken his silence for the first time since the appointment of Samuel Osei Kuffuor by revealing that bad politics at the Kumasi based club led to his exit.

'I didn't know that all these machinations were out to get me to leave. Some of the comments that came in were very sickening.

'The decision was taken by the selected few; it would have been different if it were the ordinary Kotoko fan. They know my works, ' Nti told Kasapa FM.
