Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected power at the Accra Sports Stadium due to the failure of the National Sports Authority (NSA) to pay accumulated bills.

According to Frederica Mensah, the PRO of NSA, government subvention and internal generated funds are not enough to support them in the day to day running of the various national sports stadia and this makes it difficult for them to pay their electricity bills.

'ECG has disconnected power at the Accra Sports Stadium because we owe them an amount of GHC 240, 000. They have told us to pay GHC 120,000 before reconnecting the power,' she told Hot FM.

'At the moment, I don't know how to raise such an amount to settle the debt. It is not that we are mismanaging things at the NSA, but it is just that government subvention is not enough and also IGF is insignificant.

'This interrupts with work, because there is no power to give us light and charge our computers and other office appliances.

"If we decide to use generator, the financial burden would be huge, because we have to buy diesel to fuel it".
