The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed his infamous coefficient comment was blown out of proportion.

He expressed worry at the manner in which the Dzamefe-led commission spent time during its sitting in probing the comment creating the impression as though he had something to shield.

Nyantakyi in his response during his appearance before the commission charged by President John Dramani Mahama to probe the Brazil 2014 World Cup fiasco, claimed a particular coefficient was used in disbursing entitlements to both players and officials.

His coefficient comment attracted wild criticisms from football enthusiast throughout the country who tongue-lashed GFA management for allegedly squandering state resources at the time.

But the GFA president has disclosed that he was misquoted by journalists and members of the commission in the infamous comment.

“Coefficient was not the terms of reference of the commission yet they found much time to divert attention and dwelt on it as though I was trying to do something bad,” Nyantakyi told Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg on Starr 103.5 FM, Tuesday.

He denied propounding any coefficient theory as claimed by sections of the public stating that the word coefficient was only used to clarify certain issues during his appearance.

Nyantakyi added: “I never propounded any coefficient theory.”

The GFA president revealed that the portions of the finding and recommendations of the commission were absurd threatening to seek the courts for redress.

According to him, the recommendations were alien to football administration in the country, the reason he is heading to the court to clear his name of a number of allegations leveled against him.
