Premier League side Aston Villa are interested in the hugely-admired Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Benik Afobe, according to The Sun on Sunday.

Villa coach Tim Sherwood is looking to adapt his attacking force even further with Jordan Ayew coming in from the summer and has always been keen to sign the former Arsenal attacker and wants to take him in January for a deal reportedly worth £10m.

The Wolves striker who bagged 32 goals last season has already picked up from where he left off, starting this season in scampering form with 6 goals to his name, 2 from which came recently in a 3-0 home win against Huddersfield Town.

Wolves manager Kenny Jackett has a say on centre-forward Benik Afobe:  (BBC Sport)

'He is the type of player that you want to get on the ball as much as you can.'

'From my point of view, I'm continually working out ways that you can get him in the game. If he does get on the ball, if he does get involved in the moves, then I feel the goals will come.'

'He has been a big player for us and he has only been here since January (following a £2m move from Arsenal).'

'We think he has a really good future at 22 and also he has got his confidence at Wolves, which is what he was looking for when he came here. He has to continue his progress.'

Wolverhampton in the past have rejected tons of bids from another Premier League club Norwich City near to the end of last summers transfer window, if the deal does come through, expect Wolves to have a big say during the negotiations - they won't be letting the hitman go anytime soon.
