League Report Okoro Lifts Hearts From Relegation
AUG 10, 2015 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak winger Kenneth Okoro's first half strike was enough to lift the Phobians from the First Capital Plus Premier League (FCPPL) doldrums in Accra yesterday.

The 24th minute opener, the only goal of the game, breathed life into the relegation battle of Hearts, who had sunk to second from bottom on the standings, prior to yesterday's game.

Bechem United, like Hearts, needed all the points desperately to improve their standing on the league log; but the home side were more determined and guarded the slender lead.

A few goal-scoring chances came Hearts' way, especially after the break; but they failed in all attempts.

The win, their second streak after their mid-week win over Liberty Professionals, pushed the Phobians – now with 35 points – from the 15th on the 16-team table, to the 11th position, with three games remaining.

Hearts next travel to the Tarkwa and Abooso Park as guests of ninth-placed Medeama SC.
