Ghana international Sulley Muntari has revealed why Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli didn't play for Ghana.

The Ghana Footaball Association has failed at their attempts to get both the Ghanaian-born Italian striker and Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck to complete a nationality switch.

Muntari, who was a teammate with Balotelli for two seasons at Milan, says lack of proper player management could make Ghana lose more European-born footballers of Ghanaian parentage.

Muntari told Starr FM: 'Things like this we can avoid them, Black Stars can have amazing young talents that can be there now and for the future as well, but if you keep on treating them badly they wouldn't love to even join the team."

'You will drive them away. Top players like Balotelli and Danny Welbeck could have played for Ghana but why, probably we don't know how to get them and even if they hear people quitting the national team, they wouldn't have any interest to join the team.'
