JUL 16, 2015 LISTEN

The Accra Fast Track Court has placed an injunction on next month's Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential election.

The injunction was placed after an unknown lawyer, John Kwame Quayson, who is also a football adminstrator for Dynamic Heroes of Winneba, filed to stop the election from taking place on 18th of August in Tamale.

The Accra-based lawyer is seeking an interpretation as to why the district level elections and the regional level elections wouldn't be held before the main FA presidential elections

The GFA's calender for September showed that the presidential elections were going to be held before the district and regional elections.

Justice Mustapha Logo OF The Fast Track Court then issued the injunction after receiving copies of the GFA's constitution.

The court has therefore asked the Ghana Football Association to appear in 10 days to respond to the motion filed.

The Ghana Football Association on Monday opened nominations for interested candidates to vie for the position as the FA President in next month's election.

Incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi and Ofeibea Ramatu were the only candidate to have confirmed interest in contesting the seat by picking up their nominations forms.
