JUN 30, 2015 LISTEN

AC Milan have terminated the contract of Sulley Muntari with immediate effect.

The 30-year-old tenacious midfielder joined Milan on loan back in January 2012 from rivals Inter, after playing the previous campaign on loan at Premier League side Sunderland.

Muntari impressed during his time with the red half of Milan and so Massimiliano Allegri, manager at the time, handed him a permanent contract.

However, during his three years at the club the ex-Portsmouth man has managed just 57 league appearances and during that spell the club's form has spiralled out of control.

Milan finished 10th last season in Serie A under Filippo Inzaghi and the Italian icon was sacked earlier this month, and replaced by Sampdoria manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Muntari managed 16 league appearances last season in Serie A for the Rossoneri, but four of those came off the bench as Milan struggled to find their best eleven.

The 30-year-old has not played for his country since being sent home from last year's World Cup for indiscipline alongside Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Muntari's previous clubs include Inter Milan, Portsmouth and Sunderland.
