League Report GPL: Hasaacas crush Ashgold 2-0
JUN 28, 2015 LISTEN

Sekondi Hasaacas maintained their home invincibility despite the coming of league leaders Ashantigold with a 2-0 win.

It was an efficient football from Hasaacas who faced an opponent that took the game to them from kick off with an incredible intensity and a well coordinated passes. Ashgold made them chase shadows a lot.

Tijani Joshua made the first attempt at goal in the 2nd minute with a shot from close range but missed target.

The system of play from Ashgold despite missing three key players in Lawrence Lartey,Osei Baffour and Yakubu Mohammed even still stamped the mission of the miners to clinch the league this season.

The Giants of the West rose from the ashes to nip in the first goal from an attack which started with Benjamin Eshun around the center line who outwitted Nafiu Iddrisu and run with the ball to the edge of the box to deliver a good cut back for Frederick Quayson to tap in on the 20th minutes.

The stadium erupted and that was a significantly loud atmosphere from the home fans but considering the tension their team endured before goal made their shout a good relief.

Ashgold were dominating the game although few moments came for Hasaacas but nothing worth a goal was enforced as half time approached.

A throw to Hasaacas in their opponent area was effected by Augustine Arhinful and was headed on by Emmanuel Ankobea for the ball to fall to Isaac Acheampong who quickly volleyed a through pass to Eshun and the young attacker finished brilliantly with a first touch.

A fantastic yet a surprising 2-0 lead for Hasaacas and the ecstasy from the fans was not just their cacophony but the throwing of cash notes the goal scorer.

Fatau Mohammed was a subject of boos and jeers to as his delayed marching onto the field before kick had ignited fans' suspicions.

The second half was a continued ball possession showpiece from Ashgold who lacked the threat at goal even though Bernard Morrison had made some strides.

Hasaacas forced themselves into the game and with the substitution of Joseph Ato Bissah by coach Bashir Hayford rather undid his team to claw back the deficit.

Hasaacas couldn't utilize the chances and openings to punish the league leaders as they enjoyed the final whistle of a sweet and important victory after a disgraceful  4-1 defeat to WAFA.
