League Report GPL: George Owu happy with his hat-trick of clean sheets
JUN 21, 2015 LISTEN

Sekondi Hasaacas goalkeeper,George Owu is delighted he has not picked any ball from his net so far in the three opening matches of the second round of the First Capital Plus Premier League and the former national goalie has set himself apart as the only shot stopper to have kept clean sheet in the second round.

Owu asserts that his performance was better last season than the ongoing season and he resolved to recapture his good old form in the second round. "Last season was better but this season it's been on and off,not a standard performance but am hoping to get better in the second round"

"It is one of those things.Sometimes in life you go up and come down and sometimes you want to stay on a certain standard but you might fall a bit along the way" he told Allsports.com.gh.

He was however sober in expression on keeping clean sheet against Bechem United,Medeama and Berekum Chelsea as he gave credit to the understanding he shares with his defenders.

He said "I will say it is understanding because during the first round, the understanding was not there but in the second round it is gradually coming".

Owu will face a big test of his form on Sunday in Sogakope when Hasaacas are hosted by WAFA in their Week 19 fixture. The experienced goalkeeper who brands WAFA team as 'stubborn boys' reckons the match is a different game from the others.

"It is a different ball game altogether. We are not used to the artificial pitch but for them they train on the artificial turf everyday.

"Those boys are stubborn a bit because they came to our home to hold us in the early stages of the game before we won 3-1. You can see we didn't find things easy but we hope to beat them again".
