Avram Grant unhappy with pounding of Accra Sports Stadium pitch

Coach Avram Grant is unhappy over the excessive use of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of Ghana's opening 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius.

The playing surface at the Accra Sports Stadium is hosting five competitive matches excluding the training sessions of the Black Stars ahead of Sunday's clash against Mauritius.

Hearts of Oak's CAF Confederation Cup match against Esperance started the batch of matches being played in Accra.

Ghana then hosted Togo in an international friendly on Monday before Hearts of Oak returned to play their outstanding Ghana Premier League match against AshantiGold on Wednesday.

The Phobians will again use the Accra Sports Stadium for their Premier League clash against city rivals Great Olympics before Ghana faces Mauritius on Sunday.

Coach Avram Grant considers the excessive use of the pitch as an abuse after his players complained of the quality of the playing surface.

'It is not proper to use the field usually three days before a game,' the former Chelsea boss noted.

'It is not good to allow the field for use with two days before a game.

'We need to develop everything including our fields to enable our game go forward.'
