Referee Lamptey for Uruguay- Serbia match

Accra, May 28, GNA - Joseph Lamptey, Ghana's sole referee at the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand has passed the mandatory fitness test for the competition and has been handed his first assignment.

The test which was a requirement for match officials in the competition, paved way for the Ghanaian referee to seal his place in the competition..

Referee Lamptey, will be the fourth referee when Uruguay play Serbia in the first Group D match at the Otago Stadium, Dunedin on Sunday, May 31, which will be handled by Sato Ryuji from Japan.

Referees Yagi Akane and Yamauchi Hisoshi from Japan are the two assistant referees.

The Ghanaian was at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea and has been one of the active referees on the continent since 2014.
