Nigeria will face giants Egypt in the qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations while South Africa were also handed a tough assignment by facing Cameroon in the qualifiers for the continent's flagship football competition.

Six-time champions Egypt will battle it out with Nigeria for a place at the 2017 African Cup of Nations after both sides were paired in G of the qualifiers after the draw in Cairo.

The group also includes minnows Chad and Tanzania.
All the fears of Nigeria not making it to two AFCONs in a row will now be amplified after being put in a group with seven-times winners of the tournament.

The Super Eagles have won it three times with their latest victory coming in 2013.

There has, however, been a backlash after Stephen Keshi's side did not make it to the event in 2015 and have struggled with form recently.

Meanwhile, Bafana have been drawn in Group M for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following the draw in Cairo today.

South Africa are joined in the group by Cameroon, Gambia and Mauritania.

This means Bafana Bafana will have to overcome Cameroon, Gambia and Mauritania in order to qualify .

The group winners and two best second placed teams will join hosts Gabon at the finals.
