First Capital Plus Bank, headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League has charged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to set a minimum quota of local players in the selection of players into the Black Stars.

Speaking at the official press announcement of the 2014/2015 league season on Thursday at its headquarters on the Spintex Road, Tema (Ghana), Mr. John Kofi Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Bank said, "We propose that to encourage the growth of the local game, it will be important for the GFA to set a quota for a minimum number of local players to be included in the Black Stars."

"We believe that this proposal will bolster the confidence of the local players since they know that they need not necessarily go outside the shores of the country to gain the needed recognition," he said.

"We believe that if football is properly managed and promoted in any African country, it can significantly catalyse economic growth compared to the influence of the black gold," he noted.

The CEO, however, commended the media and encouraged them to support the Ghana Premier League through positive reportage.
