SEP 30, 2014 LISTEN

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng was in action for German side Schalke 04 who failed to beat minnows Maribor after drawing 1-1 at the Veltins Arena in Tuesday night's Uefa Champions League clash.

The 27-year-old was replaced in the 79th minute as the Royal Blues were made to fight from behind to draw 1-1 with the Slovenian side.

Boateng led the midfield for Schalke following his impressive form for the club during the weekend as they beat Borussia Dortmund.

Schalke were hoping to handsomely defeat their visitors but the game did not turn to be an easy one as they were made to fight from behind to earn a point from the game.

Dutch striker Klaas Huntelaar had to score a 59th minute goal to cancel out a Damjan Bohar 37th minute strike.

With Boateng's impact clearly diminishing after the hour mark, manager Jens Keller opted to replace him with Max Meyer but his introduction could not alter the fate of the tie.

Schalke have amassed two points from their opening two group games of the competition.
