Real Party, Arsenal Falls

Spanish giant and reigning Champions Real Madrid washed aside FC Basel by 5-1 on day one of the 2014/2015 UEFA Champions League campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

In Italy, Carlos Tevez broke his Europe goal jinx with a brace against Malmo in Italy. The Argentine striker last scored in Europe way back in 2009 but scored in each half last night to give Juve 2-0 win over Malmo in Italy.

Last year's runners up Atletico Madrid went down 2-3 to Olympiakos at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

In Russia, Zenith St. Petersburg beat Benfica 2-0 courtesy Hulk and Axel Witsel's goals whiles Joao Moutinho's second half goal gave AS Monaco a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the Stade Louis II.
