Ghana's flyweight boxer Abdul Omar blitzed his way into medal contention at the Commonwealth Games with a 2 rounds to 1 win over Sri Lanka's Rathnayake.
The diminutive Omar won the first and third round to book his place in the final four where he is likely to face Pakistan's Muhammed Waseem,conqueror of Moroke Mokhotoe of Lesotho.
With the nation's chances of adding to it's sole bronze medal diminishing,Omar's victory gives life to a boxing programme which still has three boxers in with a chance at winning a medal.
