Jedidiah Amoako-Ackah- Ghana's First Track Cyclist
18.07.2014 LISTEN

My name is Jedidiah Amoako-Ackah and you call me Jeddie.

I'm a resident in Scotland and have been living in the city of Glasgow for the past 13 years.

I'm 23 and currently studying Sports Therapy at the University of Chichester.

I'm a track cyclist and will be representing Ghana as their first track cyclist at the Glasgow2014 Commonwealth games.

I hope to raise the interest of the Ghana cycling association and all concerned to invest in the sport of track cycling with development programs and initiatives such as The Accra Velodrome Project and Gift A Bike Foundation.

In addition, I believe competing at the games will be a great platform for promoting Ghana and its progressive cycling culture.

My dream is to assemble Ghana's first track cycling team, ready for the 2016 Olympics and hopefully facilitate Ghana's long-term involvement in the sport of track cycling.

In the words of Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana's first president):

'We face neither East nor West: we face forward.'
