Expected: Money most used word to describe Ghana at World Cup

Ghana's 2014 World Cup campaign was one to forget, as the Black Stars failed to impress, coming home with just a solitary point to show.

The stars made the headlines for all the wrong reasons, most especially with their demands to have their appearance fees flown to them from Ghana.

It's little wonder that all the talk of the Black Stars in Brazil centered on their money-demanding and cash-kissing escapades. A recent study by the Cambridge University affirms this belief.

By using the Cambridge English Corpus, a multi-billion word database of written and spoken English language from a huge range of media sources, the Cambridge team spent a few weeks analysing and assessing the millions of words used in relation to the World Cup by over 15,000 football-specific online sources in order to produce a chart showing the three most often used words to describe each team.

While their african counterparts Algeria have been described with the words determined , pride and together , Ghana unsurprisingly has been described with money , strike and physical in that order.

This pretty much sums up Ghana's catastrophic campaign at the World Cup. And what's to say that 'physical' description is not in reference to Muntari's attack on Moses Armah?

Maybe Ghana can take solace in Uruguay's bite , disgrace and do-or-die descriptions.
