The Englishman currently sits just outside the qualification places for Paul McGinley's squad ahead of this year's clash with the United States at Gleneagles in September.
However, Poulter, who is part of a strong field for the Scottish Open that gets under way on Thursday, is determined not to have to rely on a captain's pick for his fifth Ryder Cup appearance.
"I've got eight tournaments in the next 10 weeks so it's going to be busy lead-up to the Ryder Cup and I'm going to want to cement my place in Paul's team," he told Sky Sports.
"I know where I am - I'm just outside the team and I want to make sure I'm in that team."
Europe have won on three of the four occasions that Poulter has featured in the team, with 2008 being the only year he has tasted defeat.
