Long jumper Ignisious Gaisah feels the Ghana Olympic Committee should consider choosing Plymouth as the camping base for Ghana’s team at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Gaisah was part of the Ghanaian team that camped at the University College Plymouth, Marjon (UCP-Marjons) for two weeks on their final leg of preparations for the London Olympic Games.

The Dutch-based athlete was impressed with the training facilities and reception accorded Ghana’s team in the south-west of UK.

Speaking to www.liquidsportsghana.com, Gaisah, said “the facility is good, the atmosphere is also very quiet and conducive.

“So if the Ghana Olympic Committee can arrange this place again ahead of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, then it will be good.”

Meanwhile, at reception held for Ghana’s team at the Lord Mayor of Plymouth office, the team leader of Ghana, Dr Andrew Owusu, expressed special thanks to officials of UCP Marjons, members of the Plymouth-Ghana link and Plymouth city for contributing to Team Ghana’s successful pre-Games camp.

“We could not have asked for a better set-up and lead up to the Olympics. Plymouth have made our integration into the Olympics very easy.”
