
Accra, July 22, GNA – Ghanaian emerging Striker Emmanuel Clottey scored twice in the closing stages of the game as Berekum Chelsea held TP Mazembe to a 2-2 draw in the CAF Champions League clash on Sunday in Lubumbashi.
Captain Tresor Mputu Mabi shot the hosts into a two-goal lead at half time. Mputu scored the opener on 10 minutes before doubling the lead on 31 minutes from a rebound after Berekum Chelsea goalie Ernest Sowah had spilled his effort from the spot into play.
The 2010/2011 Ghana League champions responded positively in the second half with Clottey reducing the deficit from the spot on 70 minutes.
Six minutes from time, Clottey scored the equalizer, his 11th goal of the campaign as his side stunned the packed crowd at the Frederic Kibassa Maliba Stadium in the copper mining city of Lubumbashi.
The next Group B match will be between Egyptain duo, Al Ahly and Zamalek at the Cairo International Stadium later on Sunday.
Berekum Chelsea will next play six-time winners Ahly on the weekend of 3-5 August in Cairo.
