The founder of Division One side, Universal Stars of Techiman, Alhaji Idsrisu, is soliciting for support from the chiefs and people of the town to help in the campaign of joining the Premier League.
He said apart from its boosting the ego of the people, it would create jobs and other multiplying effect some of which cannot be quantified.
Alhaji Iddrisu, who is currently struggling to manage the club financially, told the Graphic Sports in Techiman that with a “little push Universal club which currently second on the league table can easily qualify for the Middle League and book a ticket for the premiership.”
Having played a key role in youth football in Techiman over the years as a footballer and administrator, Alhaji Iddrisu said financial support was crucial to the growth and development of the game.
He said towns like Berekum, Sunyani, Dormaa-Ahenkro and others have representation in the premiership because they have established businessmen who are supporting.
“It is always difficult for clubs to survive here in Techiman as nobody would want to help,” the Owner of Universal Stars said.
For now, the key financier of the club apart from the owner is his brother Muniru Mohammed, a driver.
