Chelsea tonight made history for winning the champions league title for the first time in Allianz Arena -Germany. The Allianz Arena was packed to the full with beautiful colours of Bayern Munchen and Chelsea. The game that was well contested by both teams saw Bayern Munchen losing 4-3 on penalties to Chelsea.
The game which ended in a pulsating 1-1 all travelled into the the extra time with Didier Drogba powering Chelsea to a glorious and an historic win with his magnificent winning goal. Bayern Munchen started the game on home soil on a brighter note creating most of the chances in the first 25th minutes, with Mario Gomez squandering four begging clear chances that could have changed the course of the game. Tony Kroos missed an opportunity to put Bayern in the lead in the 17th minute .
The Bayern side made up of creative ball jugglers like Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben and the tallisman Bastian Schweinsteiger collectively created many chances but could not take them due to the highly tactical and defensive play of Chelsea. Petr Cech proved very hard to beat, being at right place at the right time blocking all the dangerous balls coming his way. Chelsea having their backs to the wall with incessant pressure from Bayern Munchen broke down with a late goal from Thomas Mueller. Five minutes later, Didier Drogba crashed Bayern's party by powerfully connecting home a cross with flying and a turning header which brought Chelsea on level terms.
Both teams were decimated by injuries and suspensions with Chelsea missing the dynamism of Ramires, Meireles, captain John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic. Chelsea boss De matheo had no choice than to field Half-fit players like Cahill, David Louis and Florent Malouda who played very well despite. In the penalty shoot out, Juan Mata of Chelsea lost his penalty and Bayern's Ivica Olic and Bastian Schweinsteiger also lost their penalties giving Chelsea the cup they have been dreaming of for ages .
The owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovic, still haunted by the loss of the champions league title in Russia few years ago, was desperately throwing his head and hands uncontrollably in his seat during the course of the game until Drogba's winning goal calmed him down with joy and smiles.
