Berekum Chelsea have been drawn in a difficult group involving three former champions of the CAF Champions League.
Chelsea are in Group B together with Al Ahly, TP Mazembe, and Zamalek.
Group A is made up of Sunshine Stars, Esperance of Tunisia, ASO Chlef and Etoile Sportive Du Sahel.
The draw for the competition was done Friday in Cairo, with the group stage of the competition expected to kick-start in July.
Chelsea are the only debutantes in Group B and face a major hurdle against Africa's most glamorous clubs.
DR Congo's TP Mazembe are four time winners of the competition, and were the first club to play in the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010, losing only to Inter Milan.
Egyption side, Al Ahly is undoubtedly the most successful club in Africa winning six of the Champions League titles and four Super Cups.
Zamalek have five Champions League trophy and three Super Cups.
It remains to be seen how Chelsea survive in the group and hopefully book a semi-final berth in the competition.
