Asante Kotoko yesterday recorded a 0-0 stalemate score line against visiting Berekum Arsenals, but that was enough to hand them their historic 22 nd league silverware.
The draw notwithstanding, the Porcupine Warriors have extended their unbeaten run to 14, and opened a 15-point gap at the summit, with four matches remaining in the Glo Premier League.
Kotoko, with nothing to lose, kept their cool the entire duration, but Arsenals, faced with relegation, failed to make use of the opportunity.
The Maxwell Konadu side, who last won the league in the 2007/2008, has unseated current champions Berekum Chelsea.
Meanwhile, New Edubiase's new kid on the block, Emmanuel Barffour, matched words with action when he scored one of his side's two goals against Accra Hearts of Oak in their clash at the Bekwai Park.
Baffour's goal takes his tally to 21, one shy of Ishmael Addo's record in the 2001/2002 league season. That fulfils the player's dream of hitting the 20 - goal mark and scoring against all the 15 clubs in the league.
