The Netball Association of Ghana (NAG) has out-doored it criteria for the selection of team to represent Ghana in the world university Netball tournament in June this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

According to the President of the Association, Rev. E. Danso, NAG will collaborate with the Ghana University Student Association (GUSA) so that some series of trial matches would be played at the university of Education Winneba campus from which 21 players will be selected to form the core of the team and then subsequently pruned down to 12 players to represent Ghana.

Rev. Danso said for now the selection should be based on a Porto-man-to basis since time is already far spent and the association is also financially handicapped but hopefully things will metamorphosed next time.

“I think the President idea is not bad at all because we already have a dozen of players in the various universities who only needs to be abreast with the current rules and regulations governing the game and as university graduates learning the rules shouldn't be too much a problem and apart from that we need to camp them early so that their cohesive level will be very great”, Prof. Ernest Awanta (GUSA) president said.

“It will be better if we could earmark talents from the various institutions and then picked the nucleus of the team from it so that in the future we consider the grassroots where we can tap raw talents and nurture them into becoming national asset”, Mr. Cyril Quao, the technical director of NAG added.

The association is however appealing to all corporate bodies to come to their aid so that this august course could be realize because funding a team for international assignment comes with a huge financial burden which the association alone cannot carry on it shoulders.
