Guinea national team coach, Michel Dussuyer, is urging the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take a second look at the introduction of video evidence in resolving disputed goals.
The coach was mad after his side’s perfect goal against Botswana last Saturday was disallowed. Television playback indicated that ball had crossed the line before bouncing back but it disallowed.
The Syli National recorded the highest score line in the tournament so far with a 6-1 bashing of Botswana in Group D last Saturday.
Coach Dussuyer said ordinarily any team who wins by such a huge margin will not complain about such an issue “but I am doing it because of the future of the game.”
“The future of the game should be protected. What if that was the only goal in the match, Guinea would have been denied, that is not the way to go,” he said.
He said it was time CAF broadened its scope and allow for such important issues to be discussed in an open and frank manner.
The goal line technology is yet to be considered by the various confederations including FIFA due to the tension it is likely to generate.
