The call for congress by officials of the pugilistic fraternity has stirred Hon Wallace Nii Tackie-Komme to eye the presidency of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Authority (GBA).

Tackie-Komme, Assembly member for Shiabu Electoral Area, Ablekuma South Constituency, said in an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that he has what it takes to push the sport further on the world map.

According to him, should he get the nod in the forthcoming congress, his topmost priority will be to team up with the media, and galvanize sponsorship to promote and develop the sport.

'I have nothing against the incumbent, it is the position that I am eying. They have done their bit, but I think there is more to be done to restore the fortunes of the sport,' he noted in the interview.

'I will organize regular boxing seminars for stakeholders as well as promotions to keep the sport and the boxers on their toes.

'Boxing  placed Ghana on the world map when other disciplines were struggling to find their feet, and so I think it is high-time we accorded it the needed attention, and that is all I am fighting for,' he added.

Having been in the sport for over a decade, the 33-year-old Assembly member has managed great boxers like Benjamin Ashley and National Super Lightweight champion Isaac Nettey among others.
