Events held on the local boxing calendar in the last six months indicates that Ghana seems to be regaining its attraction as venue for hosting quality international bouts.

A local promoter, Golden Mike recently organised the internationally-recognised Night of Champions bill at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

It was a huge success and there are strong indications that even bigger promotions are in the pipeline.

The World Professional Boxing Organisation (WPBF) which is a relatively young sanctioning body compared to the very established WBC, WBA and IBF sanctioned two of its titles with Golden Mike Bill.

Ghana in March 6, 1976 hosted an outstanding international bout with DK Poison defending his WBC featherweight title. Boxing pundits believe Ghana will soon relive those moments.
