Accra-based boxing trainer, Napoloen Tagoe has accused Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah Nelson of taking his boxer away from him.
Azumah recently guided Emmanuel Tagoe to win the WBO Africa Super featherweight title.
Napoleon Tagoe, a former African heavyweight champion who now runs the Will Power Gym in James Town is reported to have confronted Azumah verbally at the Prisons Canteen in Accra during an amateur boxing tournament.
Napoleon is peeved that the boxer has opted for Azumah as a trainer after he has used his resources to train him. He spoke to Joy Sports.
After a short meeting with the former World Champion, Tagoe said: “I told Azumah that I don't need any body to come to my side and say he will help my boxer.”
He stressed his boxer can train with any other boxing gym apart from Azumah's.
When reached for his comments, Emmanuel Tagoe told Joy Sports the decision to join Azumah was a personal one.
He said he has learnt many things from Azumah, adding he has won a title just few months after joining him.
Azumah would not publicly comment on the matter.
