Celebration of Africa, its football and culture

On Saturday, 5 June from 1 p.m., Prague quarter of Vinohrady

will experience a great celebration of Africa, its football

and culture. The Prague Day for Africa which will take

place at the Sokol sport complex on Polska street (map) is

organized by Humanitas Afrika and INEX (Association of

Voluntary Activities) as a part of the project Football for

development. This event is coming up just before the start

of the historic World Cup which is to take place for the

first time on the African continent in South Africa.

Come and meet a team of young talented footballers from MYSA

(Mathare Youth Sport Association of Kenya) - an
organization which works in one of the biggest slums in the

world - Mathare, Nairobi - trying to make a difference by

motivating and educating the youth through sports. They

will be in Prague to play friendly matches with selected

teams including Bohemians 1905, African Youth Club and

others.
Apart from football, there will be a rich cultural programme

presented by the Czech-African star moderator and the

founder of Asante Kenya foundation, Lejla Abbasova.

Don't miss the star performance of Yemi AD and his dance

group from Dance Academy of Prague. Also in attendance are

African band Kititi (Congo, Gambia, Czech Rep.), and Njachas

- a group of drumers and dancers from Senegal, Gambie and

Guinea.
You can look forward to a hair style fashion show by

Martha's Hair and Beauty Saloon and non-stop music from DJs

Black Jesus and Afrikatu.
There will also be lots of fun activities for kids and

families: workshops, sale of African products, African

cuisine, photography exhibition, etc.

About the project Football for development
The Prague Day for Afrika is a part of an annual project

,,Football for development", which combines development

education and sports and takes place in four regions of

Czech Republic. Apart from Prague, the Kenyan football team

of youth from Nairobi will visit Most, Olomouc, Prague and

Policka, where they will play a number of friendly matches,

talk about the life in slums and take part in cultural

events and educational seminars with youth from Czech

secondary schools.
