Muntaris dad says fans must back teamMuntari's dad says fans must back team

The father of Sulley Ali Muntari has called for fans to back coach Milovan Rajevac to help Ghana win the 2010 Nations Cup title even though his son has been dropped from the Black Stars.

Alhaji Sulley Muniru insists he has been talking to his son about his recent inactions which caused his axing from the Black Stars for the tournament in Angola.

The Inter Milan ace's dad, who is also a football coach, shockingly revealed that he has not even spoken with Muntari for over four months even though they are on good terms.

Rajevac dropped Muntari because of disciplinary problems but Alhaji Muniru says fans must back the Black Stars to ensure success for the country.

“Every Coach has his system of selection. The coach has chosen his team and we as Ghanaians we must support the team to bring us victory” Muniru told Citi FM.

Speaking in an interview concerning issues of indiscipline raised against the Inter Milan Star, Alhaji Sulley Muniru admitted that, though so many points of misdemeanour have been raised against his son, that does not mean he is indisciplined.

He admitted that Sulley, in recent times, has faced the wrath of Ghanaians on his behaviour, but he might have a reason for whatever he does.

“For me as a father, I have a responsibility to talk to him; I have talked; I have done my best. Even this time when you call him, he does not talk to the press," he said

"It is not that he is snobbish but because you can say one thing and it will be added to others to make it four. His is to concentrate and do his business as a professional player."

However, he believes that the coach, Milovan Rajevac, knows what to do, and ours as Ghanaians, is to give him the maximum support.

“He has his brothers and colleagues in the team, people like Essien, Gyan and Dramani, there are lots of them, so we all pray for them because all these boys; they are my children.”

Alhaji Sulley Muniru said, the current African best player in Italy has not contacted him on his exclusion from the team.

“Since he left Ghana after the last match, I have not spoken with him, he is on his professional career, so I don't poke my nose into his business.

"When he calls to say hello, that's all; it is his mother who always talk to him. I allow him to concentrate on his business. He has not communicated to me either,” he told Citi FM.

Sulley Ali Muntari and Stephen Appiah, two key members of the Ghanaian Senior National team, Black Stars, have been axed from the team, with Appiah's exclusion based on his injury.

Some months ago he asked the Football Association to apologise to his girlfriend, Menaye Donkor, a former Ghanaian beauty queen, for unfair treatment as he threatened to quit the team if they do not.

Just about a month ago he was reported to have personally invited a player into the stars training camp for training, in their last world cup qualifying match, which the coach seemed not to be happy about.

Aside this, other related issues of gross indiscipline have been cited against the Inter Milan star.
