Kevin-Prince Boateng hopes to play at his debut World Cup finals next year by lining up for Ghana.
The midfielder is set to complete his nationality switch to Ghana having represented Germany at Under 21 level.
With a World Cup around the corner, Boateng wants to have a taste of the big stage playing for the Black Stars with Ghana having already qualified for the finals.
"At my age I want to be playing at the World Cup and it would be difficult for me to get into the Germany team. My dad is from Ghana so it is a big celebration for my family," he told The People.
Ahead of the 2010 showpiece, Portsmouth midfielder who has been in fine form says he wants to help Ghana to a fifth Nations Cup title.
Before the Nations Cup, Boateng wants to help the Fratton Park side improve their league standing before turning up for Ghana.
"The African Cup of Nations is a massive tournament and we have a great chance of winning it so there was no question of me not going.
"I just have to make sure we have got more points before I go there."
