Nyantakyi wants duopoly halted

By ghanasoccernet.com

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi is hoping the duopoly of perennial rivals Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in the Glo Premier League will be ended this season.

The two biggest clubs have looked far from convincing after three rounds of matches in the Glo Premier League.

Kotoko have one win and two draws and rivals Hearts of Oak have managed one win and two defeats.

The Premier League has been dominated by the two giants in the last ten years and the GFA President is thrilled by the early results recorded.

"I am looking forward to some of the club breaking duopoly of Hearts and Kotoko this year," Nyantakyi said.

"They have dominated the Ghanaian league since the late nineties and it doesn't make it interesting.

"If you look at how things are going at the moment, I am enjoying it and hopefully the dominance of the two biggest teams could change for once this season.

"I am only asking for fair officiating from all the referees no matter where the match is played and am sure surprises will spring up this year."
