Adiyiah claims Golden Boot and Ball awards

Cairo, Oct 17, GNA - Ghana's lead striker Dominic Adiyiah claimed the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards after he scored nine times to become the first African to win the awards in the history of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt on Friday night.

The Satellites striker who scored nine times in seven outings shred off challenge from Brazilian Alex Teixeira and the Hungarian Captain, Vladimir Comman to win the Best Player Award and was peerless in the goal-king race.

An elated Adiyiah who was described as the most deadly striker alongside Ransford Osei also of Ghana scored in each of the seven games with an average of a goal per game.

Adiyiah told GNA Sports that his sight is set on winning over the Black Stars coach, Milovan Rayevac for a call up since the senior team had qualified for next year's World Cup in South Africa.
