Accra, June 26, GNA – The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has extended invitation to sports journalists across the country to be part of the celebrations of the 2009 International Day of the Sports Journalists.
The day which will be marked by a day's lecture on the theme, “The State of Sports Journalism in Ghana today and the way forward” would be delivered by Mr Joe Aggrey, former Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, former Editor of Graphic Sports and former President of SWAG at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, General Manager in Charge of Newspapers, Graphic Group Communications Limited, will also deal with the topic “Pitfalls in sports journalism and how to avoid them”.
A statement signed by William Ezah, acting General Secretary of SWAG stated that the event, which will commence at 9:00 am, will be attended by major stakeholders in the sporting fraternity and called on all sports journalists to be part of the event.
The statement said the event will provide sports journalists the opportunity to chart a new course for the advancement of the profession.
