Agogo Banned In Egypt

Junior Agogo has been banned for three matches by the Egypt Football Association (EFA) for making a rude gesture to fans.

The Zamalek forward has also been fined  US$4,000 for the incident that occurred during Friday's league game at  Petrojet.

Agogo was caught by TV cameras while gesturing impolitely towards the opponents, but referee Mohamed Farouk didn't comment on the incident in his report.

Even though the referee failed to report the incident, the EFA used video evidence to hand down the punishment to the Ghanaian striker.

Agogo has denied he gestured rudely towards the fans despite the video evidence used before the ruling.

“They will realise if they watch  the video that I was merely joking with my teammates and we were having a laugh. I don't know where I made an obscene gesture to the fans,” Agogo said before the ruling.

“There have been difficult times with opposition fans but the last thing I will do is to get into the habit of making obscene gestures. It's just not like me.

The former Nottingham Forest man has failed to live up to expectation as he has managed to score only twice in many games for Zamalek in the season.
