University of Ghana Sports Stadium to host WAFU B U-17 Championship

The University of Ghana Stadium is gearing up to host the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON) this month, acting as the qualifier for the 2024 U-17 African Cup of Nations, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have announced.

Starting on May 15, 2024, the tournament will see Ghana facing off against six other West African nations: Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Togo, all competing for a spot in the AFCON.

Host nation Ghana is placed in Group A alongside Benin and Cote d’Ivoire, while Group B consists of Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Togo.

The newly completed University of Ghana Stadium, previously a venue for the African Games 2023, will be the hub for the tournament's matches.

Training grounds for the teams will include the Oval field, Mensah Sarbah pitch, and Union Ghana field.

The competition will conclude on May 29, 2024.
