The Ghanaian armwrestling team stole the show at the 13th African Games held in Accra, contributing a whopping 41 medals to Ghana's overall tally of 68 medals.

In a statement dated March 25, the Ghana Armwrestling Federation expressed pride in their athletes' outstanding performance.

“We set out to rescue Ghana and we did it in style," said Federation spokesperson.

Dubbed the "Golden Arms", Ghana's armwrestlers dominated their events to push Team Ghana 6th on the medals table.

"Your support and encouragement propelled the team to win a modest 41 out of the 68 Medals Ghana won at the Games," the statement read, acknowledging the support of Ghanaians during the games.

The Federation hopes this success will translate into increased visibility and financial backing going forward.

“It is our hope that the feat our beautiful sport displayed at the Games will drive greater funding and moral support for Armwrestling in Ghana," they said.

The 13th African Games, dubbed Accra 2023, was held in Ghana from Friday, March 8, to Saturday, March 23 with about 5,000 athletes competing in 29 disciplines.
