Black Princesses head coach, Yusif Basigi, has expressed his confidence ahead of their clash with Senegal in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2024 African Games.

Scheduled to kick off at 20:00GMT, the upcoming match poses a significant challenge for Basigi's squad. However, he maintains an optimistic outlook, believing in his team's capability to secure a spot in the final.

Reflecting on their recent encounter with Uganda, where they overcame an early setback to execute their game plan effectively, Basigi emphasizes the importance of strategic preparation for facing Senegal.

"While we previously scored against Senegal during the World Cup qualifiers, we won't underestimate them this time. They've shown themselves to be a strong side, and we're taking this match very seriously," says Basigi.

Despite facing defensive challenges due to injuries, Basigi expresses confidence in his team's ability to rectify mistakes and maintain a solid defensive line.

"Our back line has faced some instability due to injuries, but we've addressed our mistakes in training. We're determined to prevent conceding early goals and maintain defensive solidity," Basigi explains.

Recognizing Senegal as a formidable opponent, Basigi stresses the importance of a focused and serious approach from his team.

Despite recent missed opportunities by striker Mukarama, Basigi reaffirms his trust in her abilities and pledges continued support for her development.

"Mukarama's missed chances won't keep her out of the team. We believe in her capabilities, and we'll continue to support her. She's our lead striker, and although she's been away for a while, we're confident she'll regain her scoring form," says Basigi.

With a focus on refining Mukarama's goal-scoring skills during training sessions, Basigi remains optimistic about their chances against Senegal.

"We've been working on improving Mukarama's goal-scoring abilities, and we hope she'll have opportunities to convert against Senegal," Basigi concludes.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to take place at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
