Black Princesses head coach, Yusif Basigi, has expressed confidence in his squad's potential to advance to the final of the ongoing 2024 African Games.

Their imminent clash against Senegal in the semifinals of the women's competition is scheduled to commence at 20:00 GMT.

In anticipation of a challenging encounter, Basigi maintains an optimistic outlook regarding their chances of securing a spot in the final.

Reflecting on their recent match against Uganda, where they adeptly executed their game plan despite conceding an early goal, Basigi stresses the significance of strategic preparation.

"We faced Senegal during the World Cup qualifiers and emerged victorious, but we won't underestimate them this time. Having observed their performance, we acknowledge their strength, and we'll approach the game with the utmost seriousness," Basigi commented.

Despite grappling with defensive instability due to injuries, Basigi asserts their readiness to rectify errors and uphold defensive resilience.

"Our defensive line has been slightly unsettled due to injuries, but we've addressed our shortcomings in training. Although we conceded early in the previous match, we're determined to prevent a recurrence," Basigi explained.

Recognizing Senegal as a formidable adversary, Basigi emphasizes the necessity of a focused approach to the forthcoming match.

Regarding striker Mukarama's recent missed opportunities, Basigi expresses unwavering confidence in her abilities and pledges continued support for her development.

"Mukarama's missed chances won't sideline her from the team. As our lead striker, she remains integral, and we'll persist in her inclusion, believing she'll regain her form," Basigi affirmed.

With a concentrated effort to hone Mukarama's scoring prowess during training sessions, Basigi anticipates a strong showing against Senegal.

"We've dedicated time in training to refine Mukarama's goal-scoring abilities. Hopefully, she'll capitalize on opportunities in the upcoming match against Senegal," Basigi added.

The highly anticipated match is slated to unfold at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
