Gelson Fernandes, the head of FIFA's delegates for the GFA Elective Congress, has expressed his belief that Ghana has the potential to win the FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars of Ghana came agonizingly close to reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2010, only to be eliminated at the quarter-final stage after missing a last-minute penalty.

Despite their impressive performance, Ghana has been unable to progress beyond the group stage in the 2014 and 2022 editions of the tournament.

Fernandes, however, remains optimistic about Ghana's chances on the world stage.

He has consulted with former Ghanaian football stars, including Kwadwo Asamoah, Agyemang Badu, Sulley Muntari, and Stephen Appiah, all of whom share his belief that Ghana has the potential to win the World Cup.

In a statement, Fernandes said, "Having spoken to some of my mates like Kwadwo Asamoah, Agyemang Badu, Sulley Muntari, Stephen Appiah, and co., they all believe that Ghana has the potential to win the World Cup,” he said.

Fernandes encouraged continued commitment to the development of Ghanaian football, emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving the ultimate goal of World Cup victory.

He stated, “But we need to do more, we need to push the machine, and we need to work hard to make that dream a reality."

The Black Stars are preparing for international friendlies against the United States and Mexico, which will take place in Charlotte and Nashville, respectively.
