We Are Worried At The Attacks On Hon. Salifu Sa-Eed

Members of a pressure group calling itself the Concern Youth of NPP have expressed worry at the insistent media attacks on the northern regional minister Hon. Salifu Sa-eed and his deputy. Mr. ShaibuAnas one of the leaders to the group was shocked that the ministers were subjected to attacks from their own party people. ‘We are unable to understand why people of the same political ideology are bent on destroying one of their own over nothing’, Mr. Shaibu stated.

At its quarterly meeting in Tamale today, members of the group expressed their disappointment at what they described as deliberate moves by some political forces to divide the NPP in the Northern Region. A member of the group, Mr. ArimiyawRidwan expressed the view that such dangerous moves could be coming from political opponents or some persons claiming to be members of the NPP.

According to Mr. ArimiyawRidwan, the group and other members of the party were deeply worried as some faceless individuals were making all manner of unsubstantiated allegations against the minister and his deputy in the media. ‘Why will someone hide behind the media and fabricate stories against these humble ministers? If they believe in their fabrication they should follow due processes.’ Mr. ArimiyawRidwan was emphatic that the minister and his deputy were among ministers who can easily be accessed contrary to a claim made by a supposed polling station executive on StarrFM.

He lamented that some self seeking individuals within the NPP in the Northern region were directing theirenergies at doing unthinkable things all in a bid to painting the Northern Regional Minister black in the eyes of the president. The group wants the unruly behaviour to end. 'The minister and his deputy serve at the pleasure of the President and people should not dream that they can tie the President's hands to act', Mr. Arimiyaw Ridwan added.

The group expressed hope that leadership of the party will put their eye on this unacceptable behaviour to avert any division in the party. The group has also threatened to take up the fight if the falsehoods against the ministers do not stop.

The Concern Youth of NPP consist of leaders of youth groups within the NPP across the northern region. The group’s agenda is to galvanise support across the region in order to retain and increase the number of parliamentary seats for the NPP in northern region.

It isrecalled that the Northern Regional Minister and his deputy have become victims of attack in some media platforms in recent days. Some of the attackers remain faceless as party members are unable to identify them.
