T.I AMASS taking ICT learning to a new level

Information Communications Technology (ICT) is now driving the 21st century and authorities at the T.I. Ahmadiyya senior high school in Kumasi does not want to be left out.

The school has made ICT, previously a core subject, an elective subject taught with the most advanced facilities.

This was revealed when the 1998 year group of the school refurbished the computer laboratory of the institution.

T.I Amass, known for its exploits in academic and sporting activities has over the years been offering students in ICT in outmoded laboratory.

This made teaching and learning of ICT a difficult area for teachers and the over 3,000 students.

But despite the challenges, 20 students who sat for the Elective ICT for the first time passed with distinction.

But thanks to the 1998 year group who decided to give back to their alma mater, students can now sit in comfortable air-conditioned laboratory which is learning-friendly.

Headmaster of the school, Alhaji Yakub A.B. Abubakar commended the old students for the gesture and charged other year groups to emulate the move.

They were very old computers. The place was not conducive with air conditioners, overhead projectors and what have you. Yet the school was managing and then we were moving on.

Coincidentally, it is this year that we presented 20 students for Elective ICT. The least pass that we had was B3 in ICT. That shows the potential of the school as far as successes in ICT is concerned.

Alhaji Yakub says the computers will improve academic works.

“With this new thing that is now in place, I can assure you that all the students we are going to present, we expect that they will come with nothing but As in ICT and that will also go to reflect in other subjects that they are learning in the school”, he explained.

The 1998 year group is promising more projects for the school with the establishment of an Endowment Fund and institution of best student awards.

"We want to open 98-Group Foundation where we will actually intend to embark on projects like this one that we've done. Month by month we contribute money and then we can institute an award scheme in the school; Best Student Awards, Best Sports Student Award. This is actually supposed to be a wake up call to the other year groups", Head of the Project Implementation Team, Felix Appiah Ankomah revealed.

Meanwhile, the Prefect of the 1998-year group, Nasir Mohammed Bin Salih is urging the Ghana Education Service to adopt the T.I Amass module which promotes religious tolerance, peace and harmony on campus among all sects.
