Accra, July 27, GNA - Afriwave Telecom, Ghana's licensed Interconnect Clearing House (ICH), says it would continue its work to help in improving the telecoms industry because it is aligned with the deliverables of the ICH.

'We will take on board the key learnings from the discussions of a symposium held recently on the industry in the country and apply them appropriately for the growth of the industry', Mr Donald Gwira, the Director of Corporate Affairs at Afriwave, said in statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday.

Mr Gwira said the key objective for the company's participation in a recent symposium on the industry was to contribute to discussions pertaining to the development of the country's telecom industry.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) organised an international symposium on telecommunication regulations for stakeholders to discuss issues geared towards the improvement of the industry.

The two-day symposium was also to allow participants to furnish and upgrade themselves with information on the telecom sector as well as share ideas on how to improve the work of regulators in the communications sector.

It was on the theme, 'The role of Regulations in ICT Development'.

Discussions were centred on the Future of Telecommunication in Africa, Infrastructure Sharing, Improving Rural Communications, Strategies and Regulatory Interventions, Data Uptake and Over The Top (OTT) services, as well as Digitalisation.

The symposium brought together telecom industry regulators from Africa and beyond.
