Ho/Yamoussoukro Polytechnics in exchange programme

Ho, July 27, GNA - Ho Polytechnic and the Yamoussoukro Polytechnic of Cote d'Ivoire have begun social, cultural and educational exchange programmes to foster stronger relationship between the two institutions.

The educational cooperation is expected to lead to the development of research programmes towards addressing common challenges in the area of technical and vocational training in the sub-region.

Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi, Rector of Ho Polytechnic at the launch of the exchange programme in Ho, attended by 30 students and five faculty heads from the Yamoussoukro Polytechnic said the initiative would help operationalise objectives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

'We are simply bringing principles of ECOWAS from the presidential and regional levels to institutional level.

'We want our students to start sharing notes and see how they can work together to solve our problems,' he stated.

Dr Natalia Siaka, Leader of the team from Yamoussoukro said a similar programme with Sunyani Polytechnic is yielding positive results with students from Cote d'Ivoire doing internships with establishments in Ghana.

The 35-member Yamoussoukro team would have academic sessions and visit some tourist sites in the Volta Region before leaving the country in two weeks.

Nine polytechnics in Ghana in 2014 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Yamoussoukro Polytechnic for exchange programmes.
