Empowerment Aid a Non- Governmental Organization based in Tantra Hill, Accra has donated clothing worth of GHc 7500.00 to rainfall disaster victims in Manchie and Koleman communities in Ga West District of Greater Accra Region.

Empowerment Aid is an NGO which seeks to improve the wellbeing of women and girls in poor communities.

A workshop was organized to educate women and girls in Manchie and Koleman communities about climate change and its impacts, a Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) number 13. The beneficiaries were educated to desist from deforestation but to plant more trees (afforestation) in order to reduce pressure of heavy windstorm that might occur in the future.

Mr. Richard Opoku and Miss Esther Pokuaa Amofa, co- founders of Empowerment Aid made the presentation in the presence of the community members and Light TV when they were educating the community members on a theme “CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACTS”. They challenged the beneficiaries to go and practice what they have learnt and received from the workshop into good use.

Mr. Opoku said the organization has been in existence since 2011 has supported numerous projects empowering women and girls. The organization is currently embarking on a project “EDUCATION FOR EVERY GIRL” which seeks to give access to education for every girl age 7 to 15. “When women thrive, all of society benefits, and succeeding generations are given a better start in life- Kofi Annan”

They called on philanthropists to join Empowerment Aid to provide support to the underprivileged in society by improving their wellbeing.
