Obuasi Municipal Assembly Holds A Special Assembly Meeting

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has held a special meeting on 26th October, 2015 at the Urban council in Obuasi.

The meeting, which witnessed the Municipal Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, the presiding member elect, Festus Addai, elected and appointed assembly members, heads of departments, press and a cross section of the general public.

The main agenda of this special meeting was the swearing in of presiding member elect. The swearing in of absentee assembly members, constitution of sub-committee chairpersons.

This is to enable the assembly constitutionally be able to sit and deliberate on the decisions and make the necessary developmental projects in Obuasi and also make the presiding member legitimate in chairing all other subsequent general assembly meetings.

Joseph Festus K. Addai, the presiding member elect, was sworn in by his Worship Michael Ampadu from the Obuasi circuit court including two assembly members who were absent from the swearing in which took place on 6th October, 2015 where all the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies swore in all appointed and elected assembly members across the country.

Every assembly member was constituted into the various sub-committee which included the F and A, Educational, Special Committee on mining, Agriculture, Justice and Security, Environment, Development planning, works and social services sub-committee respectively.

Again, for effective delivery and rapid developments, the members nominated chairpersons for their various sub-committees. The Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi advised members to work diligently at their various sub-committee levels to be able to speed up in the development of Obuasi.

He urged the assembly will provide the needed support and advice they may need in their line of duty for effective delivery.

Touching on the state of Anglogold Ashanti community relations, he advised all members of special committee on mining to work effectively to champion the employment situation in Obuasi and fight for the right of the youth in Obuasi as they expect the management of Anglogold to increase the employment rate amongst the youth especially.

The house will meet on Thursday, 29th October, 2015 for a general assembly meeting for deliberations and implementations of decisions and outcomes aftermath.

We will want to work within the time framed to meet deadlines before the year ends as expected from us, I therefore urge and hope we all put in maximum efforts to attain that goal. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi urged.
